Just down the road, in our nearest town, (Bovey Tracey,) one of the country's largest and best craft fairs was held this weekend. Bliss. The best designer/makers in the country all in one very large tent, in a pretty park, under blue sky's! The standard of work was incredible (as was the food!) and with a free children's craft tent, there was something for everyone.
Manaton Makers were there in force, but sadly not displaying their wares.
Jan was running a basket making class, then demonstrating willow work, Kay was helping explain weaving in the 'Devon Weavers Workshop' stand, Anne was having fun in a print making class and Cat was rushed off her feet selling beads and buttons to the hoards!
We all spent some time looking at the beautiful craft and mentally measuring our own work against it. One of the joys of art and craft is that even with the exact same skills as another crafter you never make the same things (unless consciously copying). the more you look at what is good and what is selling the more inspired you are about your own work.
